Der Nguillatuwe ist ein wichtiger heiliger Ort, vergleichbar mit einer Kathedrale in der westlichen Kultur. Je nachdem, wie viele Gemeinschaften (comunidades) an einem Nguillatún teilnehmen, entspricht er der Grösse des Lof.

Full of spiritual meaning for mapuche people.

This is one of the most important religious ceremony in wich all the families stay together in order to share their faith and sacrifices during two or more days. In this ceremony mapuche people ask for good harvest, peace, success, good health. And thank to Ngnechen ( God ) for everything they want.

They organize a Nguillatun when the Lonko ( boss) has a dream ( peuma) that tells him that a new ceremony is needed in an specific territory ( lof ) ( this happens each two or more years in a place called Nguillatuwe.

The Nguillatun is more than a ceremony or a prayer, is a spiritual relationship between the universe, nature, humanity and God ( Ngnechen ).

Es ist eine der bedeutendsten kollektiven religiösen Zeremonien, bei denen sich Mapuche-Familien treffen und während zwei oder mehreren Tagen ihren Glauben bekunden und Opfer bereiten. Dies nicht nur, um für eine gute Ernte zu bitten, für gute Gesundheit und Wohlstand, Friede oder andere Motive, sondern der Nguillatún wird auch gefeiert, um Gott (Ngnechen) zu danken. Jeder Mensch hat Grund zu danken. Es kann auch auf einen Traum (peuma) des Lonko (gñiempín) hin eine Gemeinschaftszeremonie im Lof (territoriales Gebiet) gefeiert werden. Alle zwei oder mehr Jahre versammeln sich die Mapuche-Familien an einem Nguillatuwe, wo der Nguillatún gefeiert wird.


Ein Nguillatún ist viel mehr als nur ein Bittgebet, es geht um die Kommunikation mit dem Kosmos. Durch die spirituellen Kräfte der Natur wird die Beziehung mit Gott (Ngnechen) gepflegt

txiwe( native bay tree) or boldo, nowadays those trees

are in danger of extinction, so walle ( roble pellin )

is the best alternative for its speciall characteristics;

It turns red inside when becomes ancient and the wood

is almost indestructible, so rewes and chemamüll

will last for a long time.

Etappe der Schnitzarbeit des Chemamullñ


Ursprünglich wurde die Schnitzerei aus föye (Zimtbaum), txiwue (Loorbeerbaum) oder dem boldo-Baum gefertigt - alles wichtige medizinale Bäume der Mapuche-Kultur. Weil diese uralten Bäume rar geworden sind, wird heutzutage auch der wualle roble pellín benutzt. Wenn dieser ein gewisses Alter erreicht hat, wird das Innere des Stammes rötlich. Diese Bäume haben eine wichtige Eigenschaft für die Holzschnitzerei: ihr Holz ist nahezu unverwüstlich. Dadurch wird jegliche Holzschnitzerei oder Skulptur aus roble pellín, sei es ein rewue oder chemamüllñ, witterungsbeständig und langlebig.
